You may have some coverage for psychotherapy services based on your health insurance plan / benefit plan. Please contact your insurance provider to confirm your benefit coverage for psychotherapy services.

To determine your benefit coverage, consider the following:

  • Does my health insurance plan cover psychotherapy provided by a Registered Psychotherapist?

  • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is covered? What portion of my sessions will be covered?

  • Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?

FAQs

  • The College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario identifies psychotherapy as, “Psychotherapy is primarily a talk-based therapy and is intended to help people improve and maintain their mental health and well-being. Registered Psychotherapists work with individuals, couples and families in individual and group settings. Psychotherapy occurs when the Registered Psychotherapist (RP) and client enter into a psychotherapeutic relationship where both work together to bring about positive change in the client’s thinking, feeling, behaviour and social functioning. Individuals usually seek psychotherapy when they have thoughts, feelings, moods and behaviours that are adversely affecting their day-to-day lives, relationships and the ability to enjoy life”.

  • Within the first couple sessions, we will discuss a tentative and informal treatment plan which helps clarify your goals. This plan is developed collaboratively between the client and Therapist, and is updated as treatment progresses. The number of sessions varies, although it is common for clients to begin treatment weekly for about 8 weeks.

  • Sessions are 50 minutes. In some circumstances, should you require less or more time, 30 and 90-minute sessions may be arranged. Please reach out to discuss the possibility of scheduling a 30-minute or 90-minute session. Fees are subject to change based on the length of session.

  • I currently accept e-transfer and credit card payments.

  • Therapy with a Registered Psychotherapist and Registered Psychotherapist Qualifying is not covered by OHIP. Please check with your third party insurance provider to see if you are covered for services.

  • Choosing a therapist is a personal decision that requires consideration of your needs, wants, and your personality! One way to predict the therapeutic outcome is to examine the relationship between the client and the therapist. We suggest that you and your therapist discuss any questions and concerns you may have in the initial session. Round Table Healing provides one 15-minute free consultation which allows you to chat with your therapist prior to booking your first session.

  • Congratulations on taking the step to come to therapy! In your first session, you can expect to complete some paperwork. Prior to receiving treatment, we will need to review informed consent and confidentiality. We will gather information about you such as your medical, psychological, social, and cultural background. We will also determine your treatment goals, treatment frequency, and treatment benefits and limitations.

  • 24 hours notice is required in order to cancel an existing appointment without being charged 50% of the session fee. In the event of no-shows with no notice, 100% of the session fee will be charged. In the event of an emergency, please contact me to discuss your options further.
